There’s been a bit of horror game news this week. First of all, there’s gameplay footage of Resident Evil 5. While we’re on the topic of Resident Evil, there’s also a rumor that Resident Evil 4 will ship for PS3 and Xbox360 with some new content, maybe starring Hunk.
Finally, there’s been a couple of announcements for horror (or at least, zombie-related) games for Nintendo platforms. First there’s Last Fight, a Wiiware game about a food critic fighting vampires on a plane. Next is Mitewa Ikenai, a DS game about haunted photos that seems to be 1/2 visual novel and 1/2 puzzles. Finally, there’s Zombie BBQ, a shooter that predictably involves zombies.
Also, Condemned 2: Bloodshot has been out for about two weeks now, and the reviews are pretty positive. I’m really looking forward to playing this one.
So Zombie BBQ’s plot involves Little Red Riding Hood shooting down zombies with a shotgun. Okay…

Is it just me or does the “Zombie BBQ” title look very cartoony?
There’s a similar title for the DS called “Teenage Zombies” that I posted about at my site, but it’s kind of cartoony also.
I generally like realism in my zombie games. If people were to tell me that both these games were very fun, I’d consider playing them, though.
Whatever happened to that “Sadness” game for Wii?
As far as Condemned 2 goes, it got ripped to shreds at some sites such at that http://www.destructoid.com site, in the review. I have never seen such a bitter, hostile flame war over a video game. – Or maybe I don’t surf the web’s gaming sites enough.
And can I say *thank goodness* people at THIS site don’t flame each other over differences of opinion?
I actually didn’t care for Condemned Part 1, so I wasn’t excited about part 2. If part 2 ever hits rock bottom price, I’d consider buying it and playing it.
Resident Evil 4 on the Xbox 360, eh? Hmmm. I might get a copy. RE4 is one of my all-time favorite games.
In my post above, a clarification of this part-
“As far as Condemned 2 goes, it got ripped to shreds at some sites such at that http://www.destructoid.com site, in the review. I have never seen such a bitter, hostile flame war over a video game. – Or maybe I don’t surf the web’s gaming sites enough.”
– I mean, in the reader comments section at destructoid’s Condemned 2 review, the readers were complaining out the wazoo about the reviewer’s criticism of Condemned 2.
Then others jumped in to pounce on the guys who were complaining about those who were complaining about the review…
Flame wars over other people’s opinions concerning video games are, well, a given on the Internet, sad enough.
Reading the review, though… I’m pretty sure a solid number of the people interested in the Condemned series are there for the scares, though, so I’m not entirely certain whether the reviewer is attempting to be funny or simply pulling something out of his ass.
destructoid has been getting some flack lately for making some actually *honest* reviews, not to mention a more honest grading-scale (ie: 70% is not a bad score, 50% genuinely means “it’s average”… though i dont think all their reviewers are following this too well). frankly, i find it refreshing – gaming sites are way too easy on tons of games out there, and part of the reason is that, if they score a game badly which is liked by a fair number of people, lots of those people will freak out over it and flame them (as has been happening on destructoid).
thankfully, more level-headed reviews are increasing in frequency, and, imo, Chris’ reviews here is one such example.
RE4 isn’t coming to the 360 or PS3, it was an April Fools joke started over at The Horror Is Alive.
