RE: Outbreak File 2 Tops Charts

Gameindustry.biz is reporting that Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 is at the top of the Japanese sales charts this week.

The game sold some 91,000 units in its first week on sale, which is a fairly decent number, but compares unfavourably with the 227,000 units sold in the same timeframe by its predecessor – suggesting that the online version of the game may not have legs as a franchise after all.

… but when you consider that the game was probably little more than an art swap for Capcom, 91k units in a week doesn’t sound too bad at all.

Resonance Added

Resonance is a survival-horror action RPG set for PS2/Xbox/GameCube release this year. I’ve added it to the database, and you can find more information about the game at Nintendo Insider and IGN. Here’s an excerpt of the Nintendo Insider post:

The developer of the game hopes to keep Resonance as fresh and original as possible. And by doing so, the developer has gotten rid of the generic fixed camera angles brought to us by titles like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. In place of the traditional fixed camera angles is a third-person camera. Developer Neocell Factor has, furthermore, mixed RPG elements with the survival-horror atmosphere, hoping to create an entirely unique experience.

Siren 2 Details, Pictures

The MagicBox has released more pictures and information on the recently announced Siren 2.

The story takes place in an abandoned island, where all human disappeared in a mysterious way 29 years ago.

This time other than the dead people from the first game, there is a new type of enemy called the dark people, they have intelligence and abilities over human, and they can see in the darkness. Their only weakness is light, you need to use flashlight or other light source to weaken them, then use weapons to attack.

You can find a lot of ruins, collapsed buildings and ship wrecks in the island. The Optical Illusion System will be enhanced in the game, you can see through from both human and animal eyes as well; and you can receive helps from companions in battles to rescue partners.

The MagicBox is reporting more details on Sony’s Siren 2:

Sony has released new tidbits on its PS2 horror adventure game SIREN 2 (Forbidden Siren 2), the game will have at least two main characters. The story takes place in an abandoned island, where all human disappeared in a mysterious way 29 years ago. You can find a lot of ruins, collapsed buildings and ship wrecks in the island. Siren 2 Confirmed

The MagicBox is reporting that Sony has confirmed earlier rumors that a sequel to Siren is in development.

Sony confirmed that they will release the survival horror adventure game SIREN 2 for PS2 in Japan in 2005.
