I’ve finally, finally finished Siren. It took a very long time (6 months!) to get everything and complete all the levels, but the game turned out to be pretty amazing. I’ve posted my thoughts on the Siren page, and hopefully I haven’t been too long winded. Next up I need to choose between: Fatal Frame 2, X-Files, The Suffering, or Silent Hill 4. Since the pace of Siren was so slow, I’m currently leaning toward The Suffering, as shooting the crap out of monsters will be a nice change. |
What

Yep, that’s Nuby’s GameCube chainsaw controller for playing Resident Evil 4 on. From Lik-Sang’s blurb:
…this massive sculpted controller comes with a built-in sound chip, imitating the roar of the powerful weapon. … When not chopping Zombies into pieces, the Resident Evil 4 Controller can rest on its stylish stand, on top on your TV, well at sight for the bill collectors knocking at your door. Very impressive in size, it will bring you fear and respect at the same time, yet light and ergonomic, it stays comfortable and does not affect gameplay at all. Holding it in your hands for sure makes you feel like a man; now who said the Cube was for kids?
If you say so, LikSang. Looks a little garish for the top of the TV to me.
Yet more RE4 Info
The MagicBox has new info about Resident Evil 4:
Capcom revealed a new character in Biohazard 4 / Resident Evil 4 for GameCube and PS2, named Ingrid Hannigan, she appears to be a commander that appears in a communication terminal, Leon can speak with her during the game, similar to Metal Gear Solid. In the item shop, in addition to weapons, you can also purchase food to restore hit points, such as fish.
… how very Metal Gear Solid-ish, right down to the communication terminal. Check out some of the pictures they posted too… more fish!! The comment in Japanese on the fish shot says “what the heck is this!?”, indicating that the magazine from which the screen was scanned is as dumbfounded as we are.
I am getting very tired of RE4 hype…
… but I am posting this nugget nonetheless. GameScience is reporting that Resident Evil 4 will have a weapon shop where Leaon can buy, repair, and upgrade weapons.
In two new Famitsu scans of biohazard 4, it is revealed that Leon will be able to purchase, sell, repair and upgrade weapons at a weapon shop run by one of the monk-like villagers using the PTAS money system. Money, as seen in the Famitsu Wave Demo, is acquired by defeating enemies and shooting crates.
The GameScience link also has some scans from Famitsu discussing the weapon shops (what’s up with that big fish in the item screen of the second scan… MGS3-style health??). For all the hype, we really still know very little about this game.
Fatal Xbox
In case you missed it, Fatal Frame 2 (Director’s Cut) was released for Xbox a few days back. Among other changes, it features the ability to play the entire game from a first person perspective.
RE4 ON PS2!

Capcom announced today that the previously GameCube-exclusive Resident Evil 4 will be released for Playstation 2 by the end of 2005. The January 2005 release date for the GameCube version is still on track, according to the news brief. Whoa! |
Zombie without a Halo
Asyper Media e-mailed me about a new game from Wideload (founded by Bungie cofounder Alexander Seropian) called STUBBS THE ZOMBIE in “REBEL WITHOUT A PULSE”. The game looks to me like a cross between Possession and Shiny’s Messiah. From the press release:
In this game, players take on the role of the rebel himself Stubbs, a wisecracking Zombie who takes on an ultra-modern city of the future using nothing but his own carcass and the weapons of his possessed enemies. The game’s tongue-in-cheek humor, innovative combat and strong storyline keep Stubbs the Zombie’s gameplay as bizarre and unpredictable as its namesake.
…
As Stubbs, you can:
- Play as a Zombie and give those unpleasant, violent humans a piece of your mind…by eating theirs
- Destroy an entire city built with Bungie’s Halo Engine
- Use Zombie Strength to smash down doors and maul a wide variety of citizens and armed defenders
- Spread Zombie Love by eating the brains of your enemies and adding them to your own personal zombie horde
- Possess unsuspecting humans and use their weapons against their friends
- Use Your Body as a Weapon in the deadliest offense ever: explosive gut grenades, zombie sputum, a severed hand that can crawl through tight spaces and possess the living, a head that doubles as an unholy bowling ball, and flatulence beyond the ken of mortal men.
Rebel Without a Pulse uses Bungie’s Halo engine, so it will be available for Mac, PC, and Xbox. The official site has some cool-looking screenshots.
When this came comes out I can finally stop posting new screenshots from it.
RE4 screens are now available at the MagicBox.
Deadlight Added

Thanks to forums member Crave for turning me on to Deadlight, an aliens-invade-sinking-ship FPS for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Currently in development at UK developer Blue52, Deadlight looks a whole lot like a cross between Carrier and Doom 3. Impressively, Blue52 appears to be using stencil shadows on the PS2, which is quite difficult. No release date has been released yet. |
New Haunting Ground Screens
The MagicBox has posted new screenshots from Capcom’s recently announced horror title Haunting Ground (formerly known as Demento
